Melody Yu

Living in New York City, I’m drawn to the quiet that can be found within nature. My paintings create a pause from the movement and noise of everyday life: a place to slow down, breathe, and step outside of reality for a moment.

My work is inspired by emotional experiences, changing landscapes, and the feeling of being transported somewhere familiar yet unknown.

Each painting begins intuitively and unfolds through layers of color, texture, and gesture. I allow the image to shift as I work, letting both intention and chance guide the process. Rather than depicting a specific place, I hope to create an emotional landscape—one that feels like an escape, a memory, or a dream you can briefly enter.

My paintings invite viewers to slow down and find their own sense of calm within them.
